# What is NDC, and what does it change in airline sales?

NDC (New Distribution Capability) is the data exchange standard IATA developed so that airlines can pass their products to travel agencies and other sales channels. The airline presents its fare packages and extra services in its own definition, using an offer-and-order logic.

## In short
- NDC is an airline data exchange standard from IATA, built on offer and order management.
- The standard is XML-based and is promoted through IATA's NDC Program.
- With NDC an airline passes its fare packages and extra services to the sales channel in its own definition.
- The DIJI.TECH infrastructure includes NDC connections for Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and AJet.
- In Kurumsal.pro the THY corporate code is added to a search only through the Turkish Airlines NDC connection.

**NDC (New Distribution Capability):** NDC (New Distribution Capability) is IATA's XML-based airline data standard built on offer and order management. It lets an airline pass its fare packages and extra services to agencies directly, in its own definition.

NDC (New Distribution Capability) is the data exchange standard IATA defined for passing airline products to travel agencies and other sales channels. [IATA's NDC page](https://www.iata.org/en/programs/airline-distribution/retailing/ndc/) describes the standard as an XML-based data format built on offer and order management; the IATA resolution supporting the programme (Resolution 787) dates from October 2012.

## How does NDC work?

In NDC, when an agency runs a search the airline returns the offer it has prepared for that search. The offer carries flights, price, fare packages and the extra services that can be sold, all together. When the agency accepts the offer and completes payment, an order is created on the airline's side, and later changes are made on that order.

For the agency, this means seeing the airline's product the way the airline defines it. The names of fare packages (see [branded fares](/en/glossary/branded-fares/)), baggage allowance and refund rules, and extra services such as seats and bags, arrive in the detail the airline provides.

## What is the difference between NDC and a GDS?

A [GDS](/en/glossary/gds/) presents the content of many airlines in a common format through an intermediary system, while NDC is the standard through which an airline passes on its own offer. One is "many airlines, one connection"; the other is "the airline's own product". In practice agencies use both together.

| | GDS | NDC |
|---|---|---|
| Content source | Many airlines, via an intermediary system | The airline's own offer |
| Fare packages and extra services | As far as the system supports them | In the way the airline defines them |
| Connection | Through a GDS provider | Directly with the airline or through an intermediary |
| Booking record | PNR | Offer and order |

The relevance of NDC for corporate sales is that employees and approvers can compare different packages of the same flight side by side. Baggage allowance or change flexibility becomes something decided together with the price.

An NDC connection also rests on a commercial relationship. It is not opened without the agency's agreement with the airline or an authorised intermediary, and without the access credentials; the software provides the infrastructure that uses the connection.

## What are the NDC connections in Kurumsal.pro?

The DIJI.TECH infrastructure includes NDC connections for Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and AJet; they are merged with GDSs and consolidators in the same flight search. The portal your agency offers its corporate clients shows the results from these connections at the company's price, with the policy decision on every row. Which of these connections will be active is defined during setup, according to the agency's agreements with the airlines.

What NDC connections add to corporate sales:

- **Fare packages:** Employees see each package's baggage allowance, refund and change rule, and the price difference between packages; the baggage rights of the selected package appear on the cart row.
- **Extra services:** Within what the airline offers, seat selection from the seat map, extra baggage and meal selection. These are part of the same cart, policy check and approval flow.
- **Corporate code:** A company's THY corporate code is added to a search only through the Turkish Airlines NDC connection; branches inherit the parent company's code. Details are in the [corporate airline code](/en/glossary/corporate-airline-code/) entry.
- **Loyalty number:** The Miles&Smiles number in the employee's profile is sent automatically with the flight booking.

The details of the Turkish Airlines connection specific to the corporate channel are on the [Turkish Airlines NDC integration](/en/integrations/turkish-airlines-ndc-integration/) page, and the full list of suppliers is on the [integrations](/en/integrations/) page.

## Can company staff tell an NDC result apart?

No; the corporate portal does not show the supplier name. Staff see the flight, the price, the fare package, the extra services and the "In policy / Out of policy" decision. Whether a result came from NDC or a GDS is information that stays on the agency side. This lets staff pick the policy-compliant option without dealing with channel details, while the agency manages its supplier relationships itself. The search, fare package and extra service steps are described in full on the [corporate flight booking](/en/corporate-flight-booking/) page.

## Frequently asked questions
### What does NDC stand for?
NDC stands for New Distribution Capability. It is the XML-based data exchange standard that IATA defined, built on offer and order management, for passing airline content to agencies and other sales channels.

### What is the difference between NDC and a GDS?
A GDS presents the content of many airlines in a common format through an intermediary system. NDC is the data standard through which an airline sends its own offer, fare packages and extra services, directly or through an intermediary. Agencies often use both together.

### Which airlines does Kurumsal.pro connect to via NDC?
The code of the DIJI.TECH infrastructure includes NDC connections for Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and AJet. Which of them will be active depends on the agreements the agency has with the airlines and is defined during setup.

### Can company staff tell that a result comes from NDC in the portal?
No. The corporate portal does not show the supplier name; staff see flights, prices, fare packages and the policy decision. Which connection a result came from stays on the agency side.
